After a few months of beta, Object Storage by Scaleway is available to all. The service, compatible with the S3 API, allows easy storage and delivery of up to several petabytes of data.
Object Storage is the first storage brick of the Scaleway cloud ecosystem. It allows developers to host files regardless of their number, size or organization and to distribute them instantly, anywhere in the world. The service is currently available in our Amsterdam datacenter (
nl-ams) and is in Paris (
fr-par) since March 19th, 2019.
Upload your first data is very easy, you just have to connect to the new Scaleway console.
Fast, Secure & Reliable
To make your files available in milliseconds, we have equipped Object Storage servers with SSD and NVMe SSD disks. In addition, we guarantee 99.999% integrity of your data and you can enable the bucket versioning from the command line or using the console to log all versions of your objects.
The visibility of your files is also configurable. Listing the objects in a bucket is by default private however, you can easily set it to be accessible to everyone. You can also choose to make an object public in order to share it on a website or in an email.
Network side, Object Storage has a redundant output capacity of 100 Gbit/s per rack. Connections are also encrypted with SSL and protected by our anti-DDoS security. Attacks are automatically identified and filtered by our mitigation algorithms.
S3 API Compatibility
We designed the product to be compatible with S3 API, considered as a reference in the object storage market. You can therefore use Object Storage with most data management tools through the
s3.nl-ams.scw.cloud endpoints. To help you get started, we came up with plenty of tutorials.
Using the command line:
- How to use Object Storage with s3cmd
- How to use Object Storage with AWS-CLI
- How to use Object Storage with s3fs
- How to backup your dedicated server on Object Storage with Duplicity
Using desktop applications:
- How to store objects with Object Storage and Cyberduck
- How to store objects with Object Storage and Transmit
Using online applications:
- How to deploy the Pydio InstantApp with Object Storage
- How to deploy the ownCloud InstantApp with Object Storage
- How to configure Nextcloud with Object Storage
- How to configure Plex Media Server with Object Storage
If we forgot a tool you think is important, feel free to leave us a comment below. The supported S3 API features are also detailed on a dedicated page: S3 Object Storage API.
Object Storage pricing is simple and cost-effective. It is made of a first pack of 500 GB of storage and 500 GB of outgoing transfer regardless of how data is distributed among regions for €5 excluding tax per month then of a very competitive per-use invoicing beyond:
- €0.01/GB per month or €0.00002/GB per hour excluding tax for storage
- €0.02/GB excluding tax for outgoing transfer
In addition, outgoing transfer to Scaleway and Online by Scaleway servers within a region is free of charge (
nl-ams). Until April 1st, 00:00 UTC, we even offer it from one region to another (
fr-par). It will then be billed €0.01/Go excluding tax.
In addition, incoming transfer is also completely free of charge.
