We're glad to announce bigger, more powerful, variants of our ARM64 lineup.
For the last couple of years we positioned ourselves as the pioneer of ARM hosting. We continue today to provide an alternative solution to classic X86 instances with the introduction of bigger ARM servers in the cloud. With our new variants, we're now offering a solution to large workloads at scale, and at a competitive price thanks to our optimised ARMv8 SoCs.
High Core Count Variants
Our new ARM64 variants provide an incredible amount of CPU power for users who need it.
We have 4 new variants, with up to 64 cores and 128GB of DDR4 ECC RAM:
These cloud servers are backed by Cavium ThunderX SoCs, high end processors designed for the cloud, and DDR4 ECC memory. They come with up to 1 Gbit/s of internet bandwidth with unlimited transfer. There is no additional bandwidth fee. As all our cloud server, the new ARMv8 servers are billed by the hour.
Our new ARM64 lineup proves ARM SoCs are not tied IoT and Smartphones: ARM is a true alternative for the server market with solution for small and large workloads.
The servers are available now in Paris and Amsterdam!
The ARM64 lineup is flagged as a preview as we're still deploying nodes to handle large scale deployments.
Massive Core Count Increase
Since the launch of our new ARMv8 servers, part of our users were unsure about which server they should use for their application.
To help you in your choice, we've decided to provide 2 additional cores for the same price on our two first variants:
- The ARM64-2GB gets 4 cores instead of 2, a 100% core count increase
- The ARM64-4GB gets 6 cores instead of 4, a 50% core count increase
All of this for the exact same price as before.
Basically, if your application is able tu use multiple cores, you will get almost a 100% performance increase on our ARM64-2GB server.
At €2.99 per month, the ARM64-2GB variant is for this price clearly the most powerful server we have and probably the most powerful on the market.
If you need the additional CPU power, go ahead pick an ARM64 server and don't be afraid to be part of the market disruption!
For existing customers, your cloud server configuration will be upgraded after a hard reboot or a stop/start sequence.
Since the initial release of our ARM64 servers, Docker and CentOS on Scaleway have been highly requested by the ARM community.
We're pleased to announce Docker and CentOS are now available for ARM64 servers!
Keep in mind that you need to use ARM64 Docker Images. If you try to use an x86 image, Docker will raise an error. A good source for ARM64 images is the arm64v8 repository of the dockerhub.
To deploy one of our new ARMv8 cloud server, simply select it on the server creation page, click start and your server will be ready in less than a minute! As usual, if you simply want to make some tests, you'll only be billed for the hours used.
If you need more server than your account limits currently allows, simply open a support ticket, our support team will take care of increasing your server quota.
Happy Cloud Riding,
